The Dogs Dig It Way
Our staff loves being a part of your dog's healthy, active lifestyle. They take the time to get to know your dog (quirks and all) so they can provide the most fun and safe environment possible.
Your dog's safety is of the utmost importance here at DDI. That is why we maintain safe dog-to-human ratios, and utilize up to four distinct play areas to create a comfortable experience for a dog of any size or activity level. We also require all dogs to undergo a temperament evaluation before visiting. Our staff participates in a year-round training program, focused on the latest dog behavioral science, safe and balanced play, compassionate handling, dog first aid and pack management.
With 14,000 square feet of play space, we are Portland's largest indoor/outdoor doggie daycare so we have heaps of space for your pup to romp around in. Our large outdoor yards have artificial turf to keep things clean, offer shelter from the elements, and we provide pools and play structures to keep dogs entertained. In our boarding areas, we have multiple lodging options available for dogs of all sizes. We also have a 24-hour monitoring system to ensure the safety of your pet at all times.
Mariah - Our Team Leader
Mariah is the General Manager here at Dogs Dig It. She has been in the doggie business for over 8 years as both a dog groomer and in daycare and boarding facilities. She moved to Portland from Arizona in 2014 as a dog groomer, then returned to her old love of dog daycare at Dogs Dig It in 2015. Her years of experience working with dogs and wide-ranging stage management experience made her a natural to move up to management at DDI in 2016. Mariah, her two terriers, Chupacabra and Bandito, and her rottweiler mix Dixie love to stay in and watch reality tv. She is very proud of her standout team of compassionate dog handlers, and loves the daily challenges that come with running a group play facility.
Our Assistant Manager Zack is one of our oldest and most loved staff members at Dogs Dig It. He has over 7 years of dog daycare experience between 4 daycares in both Seattle and Portland; his job titles have ranged from lead coordinator to supervisor, and he is currently our Assistant Manager. Zack has been with DDI since April 2015 and says that his current position is the closest to a dream job that he has ever come. In his free time he likes to work on his illustrations.
Giana grew up on a ranch on the coast of northern California, where her love for dogs began with her family’s border collies. Before moving to Portland in February 2016, Giana worked at a small rural daycare and boarding kennel as well as a mobile veterinary clinic. She has also volunteered at a wildlife rescue and marine laboratory. Aside from dogs, she loves science, nature, art, wildlife photography, the Harry Potter series, and her own dog, Fia. Having even more canine companions than human friends, Giana feels incredibly lucky to be a staff member at DDI.
Hal started at DDI in early 2017, but he has been in the doggy daycare business since the summer of 2013. He's always had a habit of falling in love with every dog he sees, and always said he wanted to be a veterinarian when he grew up. He is the proud dad of three pups; Cooter (a Schanuzer/Yorkie mix), Cody (a chunky yellow lab), and Racket (his princess, a gorgeous little pittie mix). In his time away from work he enjoys writing, experiencing new things, and casually studying philosophy and psychology.
Lindsey recently moved to Portland from Chicago, IL where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Photography from Columbia College Chicago. She has been working in the pet industry for 6 years, starting at Dogs Dig It in July 2016, and has loved every minute of it. When she’s not taking photos or hanging out with pups, she enjoys hiking, camping, and binge watching Netflix with her husband and two feline children. Lindsey is the mastermind behind our instagram account!
Isabel has been working at Dogs Dig It since July 2016 and has loved every day of it. She is currently attending PSU. When she is not spending time with the dogs at DDI she can be found volunteering at the Oregon Humane Society or practicing roller derby with the Rose City Rollers. Isabel's favorite part about working at DDI is watching dogs of vastly different personalities interact with each other.
Growing up in a rural Washington town, Clara has always felt most at home in the company of animals. She came to Portland in 2015 and immediately found her place in the doggy daycare life. Though a recent member of the DDI team, Clara is more than happy to spend her days here outside on her feet as one of the pack! Outside of work she can be found enjoying local music, exploring the PNW wilderness, practicing her clarinet, or playing a video (or table-top) game.
Kristin (AKA Kris!) has been at DDI since summer 2017 but is no stranger to the doggy daycare life. She worked as a manager at her last daycare in NW Portland for 4 years before it unfortunately had to close its doors. She moved from a small town in Southern California to Portland in May of 2013. When she isn't surrounded by dogs, she is constantly on the move whether it be hiking, biking or camping! She even makes and records music in her spare time.
I am a proud born and raised Portlander with a love of the great NW outdoors, the city that I call home, and of course dogs. My first job was at a small daycare downtown. Over the last three years I've worked at four daycares/kennels, DDI being the absolute best so far! I am an apprentice dog trainer with a dream of training service animals. When not at DDI or training, I am attempting to tire out my own nine month old pitt mix Attie, hiking and exploring with my partner Erik, or I am painting (dog portraits.. Who would have guessed..)
Devy is a new team member here at DDI!
