The Dogs Dig It Way
Established in 2006, Dogs Dig It is one of Portland’s most experienced dog daycare and lodging facilities. Our well trained dog loving staff team works together to meet the needs of all our dog clients, specializing in safe, supervised all day doggie daycare and open play overnight boarding. We also have a full service dog grooming salon, for all of your dogs beauty needs. Dogs Dig Its staff of experienced dog handlers make sure that each dog gets the love and care they need, in a fun, supervised healthy environment. Dogs go home tired, happy and relaxed after a day at Dogs Dig It.
Your dog's safety is of the utmost importance here at Dogs Dig It. That is why we maintain safe dog-to-human ratios, and utilize up to four distinct healthy play areas to create a personalized experience for your pet. Our very experienced staff team participates in a year-round training program, focused on the latest dog behavioral science, techniques for safe supervised off leash play, dog first aid and knowing the different types of dog breeds and their individual play styles.
We have over 14,000 square feet of specially designed play space for dogs to play and socialize with our dog handlers. Your dog can choose to lay in the sun, or take a swim in our pools or just run and play with their friends. Each of our three outdoor yards are covered in soft artificial turf and have shade and rain covers, perfect for a full day of fun in a loving supervised environment. Our overnight guests have many different lodging options available depending on what best suits your dogs needs.
Zack - Management Team
Zack is one of our oldest and most loved staff members at Dogs Dig It. He has over 8 years of dog daycare experience at various facilities in both Seattle and Portland. His calm, good natured personality is loved by all of our dogs. He is currently the Senior Member of our Management Team, focusing on daily operations, dog pack dynamics, staff training and safety. Zack has been with DDI since April 2015 and says that his current position at Dogs Dig It is the closest to a "dream job" that he has ever come. In his free time he enjoys illustration art and design.
Kris - Management Team
Kris has been at DDI since summer 2017 but is no stranger to the doggy daycare life. She has been working in the daycare industry for 6 years now. She moved from a small town in Southern California to Portland in May of 2013. When she isn't surrounded by dogs, she is constantly on the move whether it be hiking, biking or camping!
Lindsey moved to Portland from Chicago, IL where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Photography from Columbia College Chicago. She has been working in the pet industry for 6 years, starting at Dogs Dig It in July 2016, and has loved every minute of it. When she’s not taking photos or hanging out with pups, she enjoys hiking, camping, and binge watching Netflix with her husband and two feline children.
I am a proud born and raised Portlander with a love of the great NW outdoors, the city that I call home, and of course dogs. My first job was at a small daycare downtown. Over the last three years I've worked at four daycares/kennels, DDI being the absolute best so far! I am an apprentice dog trainer with a dream of training service animals. When not at DDI or training, I am attempting to tire out my own year old pitt mix Attie, hiking and exploring with my partner Erik, or I am painting (dog portraits.. Who would have guessed..)
Growing up in a rural Washington town, Clara has always felt most at home in the company of animals. She came to Portland in 2015 and immediately found her place in the doggy daycare life. Though a recent member of the DDI team, Clara is more than happy to spend her days here outside on her feet as one of the pack! Outside of work she can be found enjoying local music, exploring the PNW wilderness, practicing her clarinet, or playing a video (or table-top) game.
Opal moved to Portland with her family when she was just two years old. Since before she was old enough to work, Opal has made a point to be involved with animals, volunteering with the Oregon Humane Society’s youth volunteer program and walking dogs in her neighborhood. Dog walking eventually became a full time gig before she discovered the wonderful world of dog daycare. Working at one small daycare for about a year before coming to Dogs Dig It in June 2018. When Opal isn’t hanging with the pack at DDI, she can be found spending time with her own three-dog-pack and her other pets, working on her various art projects, or making baked goods for dogs and people alike.
I feel most at home when I'm surrounded by animals, which is why I chose to work with dogs. I enjoy studying their behavior/personalities and building trust with dogs as I get to know them. I recently moved to Portland summer of 2018 and enjoy finding new places to hike and explore with my partner Joe and our dog-like cat Bobbie.
