How old do dogs have to be for daycare?
Dogs must be at least 6 months old to attend daycare or board with us.
What if my dog is not fixed?
Dogs must be spayed or neutered before visiting DDI.
What vaccinations are required?
All dogs must have current vaccinations for Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper. We also require monthly flea and tick control treatment.
Why does my dog need a temperament evaluation?
Temperament evaluations allow our staff to make sure that daycare is a safe and fun place for your dog. During a temperament evaluation we are looking for strong recall (comes when their name is called), good social skills (can tell when another dog does or does not want to play), balanced play (a healthy back and forth free from rough or bullying play), and a sociable personality (no aggression or crippling anxiety). While we try our best to work with your individual dog, some pups are just not a good fit for group play. Our staff is very knowledgeable and can always come up with a plan or suggestion to get your pup in top social shape!
What happens during a temperament evaluation?
We will meet with you and your dog at the time of your appointment and ask some basic questions about your dog’s history, play style and personality. Then we will bring your dog into an empty daycare yard and introduce them to dogs of different sizes and temperaments. During a temperament evaluation we are looking for strong recall (comes when their name is called), good social skills (can tell when another dog does or does not want to play), balanced play (a healthy back and forth free from rough or bullying play), and a sociable personality (no aggression or crippling anxiety). If your dog passes the initial evaluation, we will invite them to stay with us for a free half day of daycare. We ask that you leave them with us for at least a few hours after the evaluation so we can observe how they settle into the daycare yard.
Do you have a holiday boarding reservation policy?
Yes. During all major holidays, we require all holiday reservations to be held with a credit card. Any reservations canceled with less than two weeks notice will be charged half of the reservation. Any no shows during holiday time periods will be charged the full amount. Major holidays are Thanksgiving, the two weeks surrounding Christmas, PPS Spring Break, Memorial Day, Labor Day and the 4th of July. Thanksgiving, Christmas and the 4th of July all require a three-day reservation.
